2025 Non-Event

A Family’s Dreams

Since 1994, the Listen Foundation has hosted its annual Non-Event.  A unique fundraising campaign that’s beloved for its simplicity. No formal attire, no babysitters, no banquets, just an opportunity to make a meaningful difference from the comfort of home. This year, the Non-Event highlights the inspiring journey of Eli and his family as they work toward a future filled with listening, speaking, and endless possibilities.

Like all new parents, Geoff and Brittany dreamed of first words, bedtime stories, and laughter echoing around the dinner table.  After Eli failed his newborn hearing screening, those dreams became uncertain.

“When you dream of your child’s future, hearing their voice is a part of it.”

Your support helps families like Eli’s turn uncertainty into hope and hope into reality.

Eli's family at the beach
Diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss, Eli was fitted with hearing aids at just five weeks old. By 18 months, his hearing loss had progressed to severe-to-profound. With strength, research, and support, his parents made the courageous decision to pursue bilateral cochlear implants. The Listen Foundation was there to help them every step of the way.

Today, Eli is listening, speaking, and thriving!

It Took a Village. It Started with Listen.

As proud Colorado natives, Geoff and Brittany love raising their son, Eli, surrounded by nature, family, and their vibrant community. Even with a family history of hearing loss, nothing could prepare them to hear the words, “your child has a hearing difference”. “Needing to learn about your child’s disability and how to navigate therapies and doctors, it was overwhelming! But we knew from day one, we would do whatever Eli needed to have the best quality of life.” Thanks to the Listen Foundation and their dedicated therapist, Geoff and Brittany found the guidance and hope they needed. Today, Eli is a thriving 5½-year-old cochlear implant user who speaks in full sentences, holds conversations, and keeps up with his peers at school. “We strongly feel that we would not be the parents we have become if it was not for the support, coaching, and creativity brought to Eli’s therapy.” You can help give another child the gift of listening, language, and limitless possibility.  Donate to the Listen Foundation today.

Listening and spoken language therapy

The Listen Foundation is the only organization in Colorado solely focused on Listening and Spoken Language for kids.  We start therapy as early as a few months old, offering expert Listening and Spoken Language Therapy support tailored to each child’s potential. No family is turned away!  We cover the costs for families who can’t afford therapy. Your gift makes this possible. When you donate, you give a child the chance to say “I love you,” to sing, to learn, and to dream out loud. We believe developing spoken language should be an equitable right, meaning access to more schools, more opportunities, more family and social interactions and the realization of the child’s full potential. Give today. Help a child be heard.

Eli on a horse

As we celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the Listen Foundation’s Non-Event, we invite you to join Eli and his family in supporting our mission. Your gift helps us continue providing life-changing therapy to families on the journey toward hearing their child’s first words.

“The biggest impact the Listen Foundation has had on our life is the confidence that anything is possible” -Eli’s Parents
