Did You Know?

Encouraging music and music appreciation can help your child become a better learner, listener, and talker? According to “Music Training for Children with Sensorineural Hearing Loss Improves Speech-in-Noise Perception” (JSLHR, Vol 63, June 2020, Lo, et al) music training has been found to:

  • Help children with hearing loss understand speech in noise better
  • Can enhance language abilities
  • Improve rhythm and rhyming skills
  • Improve working memory that is needed with attention and focus
  • Improve the ability to learn sound patterns
  • Improve pitch matching with songs and phrases
  • May help improve clarity and typical sounding prosody (the rising and falling of our pitch when we talk)

There have been many times when she has announced how thankful she is that she can hear and speak. She truly appreciates the gift.
