After 341 entries from 19 countries worldwide, 8-year-old Jaylin Macerinskas was selected as one of the 9 global winners of Ideas4Ears. Jaylin, from Englewood, CO, has been a MED-EL recipient since 2015. As a grand prize winner, she will travel to MED-EL HQ in Innsbruck, Austria to tour the manufacturing facilities and meet the MED-EL engineers who made her implant. She’ll also get to spend time with the other 8 winners from countries including South Africa, Spain and Belarus. Jaylin’s “idea” involved making changes to the existing MED-EL processor to make it more discreet, allowing her to choose when to disclose her hearing loss to others. She even built a prototype!
